GAME VIEWING, BIRDING, FISHING Savuli is situated in the Save Valley Conservancy in the south-east lowveld of Zimbabwe. It covers a vast area of over 340 000 hectares containing most game species. The conservancy consists of twenty-four ranches where all the cattle and internal fences have been removed to allow the free flow of game. This is the largest private game reserve in Africa and is the home of over forty of the nearly extinct black rhino and also six white rhinos.

Over 500 elephant have so far been translocated from the nearby Gonarezhou National Park. Buffalo have also been re-introduced after having been shot out in the 1960s. Buffalo were shot out during this time as a measure to control the outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth disease in cattle. More than sixty giraffe and other game species have been re-introduced including: waterbuck, sable, wildebeest and eland. Lions, leopards, cheetahs and the Cape hunting dog already occur here. Savuli is home to the largest baobab tree in Zimbabwe.
